Swimming is considered by many physicians and paediatricians to be the ideal activity for developing muscular and skeletal growth. It enhances aerobic endurance, proportional muscular development, natural flexibility and coordination while being the most injury free of all children's sports.
Our purpose is to encourage, promote, and train the children and youth of our community in aquatic sports, with an initial concentration in swimming.
We promote physical fitness and teach good patterns of physical development, proper conditioning, and proper health habits.
We promote the involvement in age-group programs and provide an opportunity for members to compete in organized swimming competitions.
We shall aid in promotion, encouragement and training of our members in national and international sports competition.

Participation in the Otters Swim Team is against a monthly fee per swimmer, depending on their age. Scholarships may be available for swimmers who qualify, depending on team funds. We make every effort to ensure that money isn’t an issue in preventing a swimmer from competing.

Commonly accepted BMI ranges are underweight: under 18.5 kg/cm2, normal weight: 18.5 to 25, overweight: 25 to 30, obese: over 30.

*Example: 165cm and 63kg – BMI is 23
